Neighborhood Info : Fremont

In a community that calls itself “the Center of the Universe,” the Fremont neighborhood stands out as a Seattle original. Located just north of downtown across the Lake Washington Ship Canal, Fremont features such quirky attractions as a statue of Lenin, a massive troll sculpture lurking beneath the Aurora Bridge, an outdoor cinema and a weekend flea market.

Originally a laid-back hippie community, Fremont has matured and come into its own. It now offers upscale town homes mixed among the post-modern apartment buildings, Victorian painted ladies and cozy Craftsman homes. The thriving business district offers an eclectic collection of restaurants, live theater, breweries, boutiques and coffee shops, as well as technology giants Adobe and Getty.
